Anishia James Selvaratnam is an Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) with a Bachelors of Education from Western University and an HBSc from the University of Toronto. She brings six years of experience in secondary education teaching mathematics, science, and General Learning Strategies.
Her work also includes special education support, where she helps students with IEPs, learning disabilities, and executive function challenges.
Many students feel stuck in school because organization, communication, and follow-through feel harder than they should. Anishia helps you identify what is getting in the way, then she builds a plan with targeted strategies that fit how you learn. Her approach draws on evidence-based learning strategies and differentiated instruction, so you get support that feels practical and personalized.
Anishia takes a patient, relationship-centred approach that stays strength-based. She helps you build confidence, independence, and stronger academic skills in areas like time management, organization, procrastination, and study habits. She works with students ages 11 and up through academic counselling that supports steady progress in and out of the classroom.
Her favourite quote reflects her mindset: “Different not less,” Temple Grandin.
